On March 10, the Dak Lak Durian Association held the 1st Congress, term 2023-2028. Attending the congress were Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan and more than 160 delegates who are businesses, cooperatives, and durian growers in the province.
To ensure the interests of durian growers and to develop a sustainable durian industry, the People’s Committee of Dak Lak province has decided to establish the Provincial Durian Association.
Dak Lak Province Durian Association is a non-profit organization of individuals and organizations voluntarily established, for the purpose of gathering and uniting members, protecting legitimate rights and interests of members; supporting each other to operate effectively in the field of production, preservation, preliminary processing, processing, consumption and development of durian products, contributing to the socio-economic development of Dak Lak province in particular and the whole country. water in general.
In the term of 2023-2028, the Dak Lak Durian Association has set many main goals, directions and tasks such as: focusing on developing members; receive and transfer new technologies in durian production and business through the association acting as a bridge and coordinating research institutions to transfer new technologies in production, technical processes of care , preliminary processing and processing of durian; organize seminars, technical topics, improve relationships, study tours at home and abroad to better support the durian industry; improve cooperation and support each other in science and technology in production, business and service, in order to improve product quality; coordinate with research agencies to experiment with new seed research topics at the members’ facilities; promote, perfect the production organization, improve the quality of durian products.
In addition, the association also encourages its members to produce seeds, grow and take care of durians, always focusing on techniques, improving planting gardens and increasing productivity; Preliminary processing and processing establishments need to ensure the processes, create products that ensure quality and food safety, and ensure product packaging and design in accordance with the provisions of law; encourage members to organize production and business to create new varieties, diversify products and product models from durian (peeled, freeze-dried, durian cake, durian ice cream, durian with macadamia …) ; building the association’s own website, developing the image and brand of durian of the province and of its members…
Speaking at the congress, Minister Le Minh Hoan shared that the establishment of the Dak Lak Durian Association is a practical activity to contribute to building an export strategy with a long-term vision for many different markets. The association will be an important factor to contribute to building and creating a more sustainable durian industry.
In order to effectively develop the durian industry, Minister Le Minh Hoan noted that “If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together”, durian fruit or any other agricultural product that wants to go far. , create a sustainable market, must “go together”. Therefore, farmers, businesses growing and trading durians and localities with growing areas must work together to create, preserve, and promote the image, brand, and reputation of Vietnamese durian and Vietnamese agricultural products. The Congress elected the Executive Board of Dak Lak Durian Association, term I, term 2023 – 2028, including 19 members. Mr. Vu Duc Con, Deputy Director of Dak Lak Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development was elected to be the Chairman of the Association for the term of 2023 – 2028.
