On the morning of October 12 (Vietnam time), ending the weekend trading session on the London floor (UK), Robusta coffee prices closed the session recording a sharp decrease of 88 USD/ton, to 4,826 USD/ton (about 119,000 USD). VND/kg), at the November delivery term. At the beginning of the trading session, coffee prices at this term increased many times, the highest increase was 46 USD/ton but it did not last long, causing the price movement of the commodity to change. This adds drama.
In other delivery terms, the price of Robusta coffee also increased at times, but at the end of the session it decreased from 49 – 62 USD/ton, the lowest was the coffee term delivered in May 2025, to 4,426 USD/ton. .
Not only Robusta coffee, Arabica coffee on the New York floor (USA) also closed in the red in all 4 delivery terms. Delivery term in December, Arabica coffee is at 5,560 USD/ton (about 137,000 VND/kg), down 60 USD/ton compared to the previous day.

Vietnamese Robusta coffee is not easily replaced despite its high price
Coffee prices on the two main trading floors in the world decreased amid the announcement of a series of unexpected information by the International Coffee Organization (ICO). Among them, the outstanding result is the global export of raw coffee beans in the 11 months of the 2023-2024 crop year reaching 110 million bags (60 kg each) – the second record level in history. This shows that concerns about a global coffee supply shortage are inaccurate in terms of data.
Even global Robusta coffee exports increased in the first 11 months of the 2023-2024 crop year with a total output of 43.46 million bags, an increase of 2.3 million bags (5.6%) compared to the same period of the previous crop year. . The main drivers driving August’s double-digit growth were Brazil, India and Indonesia. In August, Robusta coffee exports from these three countries amounted to 1.66 million bags, up 36% over the same period last year.
According to ICO, Vietnam – the largest coffee producing and exporting country in Asia & Oceania, has seen export output decrease by 12.1% over the same period last year in the first 11 months of the 2023 crop year. 2024 only has 24.09 million bags (1.445 million tons).
This shows that, among the main sources of global coffee export, only Vietnamese coffee has a real crop failure but coffee prices are still “fever”.
Mr. Do Ha Nam, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Coffee – Cocoa Association (VICOFA) once shared at the seminar “Solutions to export Vietnamese coffee to 5 billion USD” organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper The organization is that Vietnamese Robusta coffee is difficult to replace even though it has the highest price in the world.
He said many customers in Europe buy Conilon coffee (Brazilian Robusta coffee) to replace Vietnamese Robusta coffee when processing instant coffee, but it has not been accepted by consumers. The reason why Vietnamese Robuta coffee has many different flavors compared to Brazilian Robusta coffee.
Even Mr. Nam’s company, Intimex, once imported Conilon coffee to try and mix it into the instant coffee produced by the group but failed.
Meanwhile, domestic coffee prices over the past week have been relatively “stable” at about 110,000 – 115,000 VND/kg, trading moderately due to limited supply and the parties waiting for the coffee to be harvested in full this month. 11 and 12 to come.
