According to the Nedspice Group forecast, although global pepper production is expected to decline by about 12% in 2020, the inventory is expected to be still higher than the total demand in the market. At present, Vietnam's pepper harvest reaches over 50% of the production, estimated this year's crop reaches about 250,000 tons.
In particular, the inventory of 2019 will turn to about 90,000 tons. Thus, Vietnam's pepper supply is estimated at 340,000 tons.
Update coffee prices
Today's coffee price in the Central Highlands continues to increase by VND 200 / kg – VND 300 / kg to VND 30,400 – VND 30,900 / kg. In particular, coffee prices in Lam Dong, Dak Lak and Kon Tum recorded an increase of VND 200 / kg. Coffee prices in Dak Nong and Gia Lai provinces increased by VND 300 / kg.

Coffee prices at warehouses around the port of Ho Chi Minh City increased 11 USD / ton to 1,285 USD / ton.
The price of robusta coffee delivered in July increased by 0.8% to 1,204 USD / ton. Arabica coffee prices increased 0.1% to 106.4 UScent / pound.
Abundant supply while the Covid-19 epidemic caused reduced demand, put pressure on global coffee prices. In April 2020, the price of Robusta and Arabica coffee delivered by continuous delivery dropped to a low level.
On the London exchange, on 28/4/2020, Robusta coffee prices delivered in May 2020 term decreased 7.2% compared to March 30, 2020, down to 1,122 USD / ton.
Forecast, global coffee prices in the near future will fluctuate in a downtrend. Global coffee area, productivity and output have been increasing in recent years, while demand has only increased by 2 – 2.5% per year, resulting in an oversupply of demand.
The dry weather in Brazilian coffee growing areas is favorable for harvesting, while the weak demand due to the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic and the Brazilian real is nearing a record low impacting on coffee price.
