Currently, the whole district has nearly 4,000 hectares of pepper, including 2,518 hectares of pepper for business, the average yield is over 3.7 tons/ha, the average annual output is over 9,300 tons. It is worth mentioning that the quality of pepper products here is better than in other localities, the recovery rate of grade 1 and special black pepper is very high, popular in the market. This is always an additional 10% to the purchase price. With the desire to increase the value chain for pepper, at the end of 2016, Cu Kuin district successfully registered the certification mark. This is a big step in building brands and brands of goods to enhance the value of local agricultural products. However, after successful registration, the development of this trademark encountered many difficulties. First of all, in the district, there is no plan to develop pepper, in addition, the province and the agricultural sector do not have specific orientations to support the locality. According to the district’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, after the district successfully registered the trademark, the department and specialized units organized many training courses on pepper planting, care and processing techniques in the direction of good agricultural practices for farmers. ; step by step established groups, groups and clubs on sustainable pepper production to move towards the establishment of clean pepper cooperatives… Although the district has made many efforts to develop, it is due to the brand name. Cu Kuin pepper still new, not many people know, so there are still few businesses (DN) boldly stand out as “midwife” in the development of the product chain.

Currently, in the district, only Ea Ktur Coffee One Member Co., Ltd. is involved in brand development Cu Kuin pepper. Mr. Tran Van Tam, director of the company, said that as the unit with the highest concentration of pepper growing area in the country, with 1,000 hectares, the average output is 4,000-5,000 tons/year, so the company has many advantages in certification mark development Cu Kuin pepper. Previously, when the district had not registered this trademark, the company also cleaned pepper to export to some fastidious markets such as Japan, the Netherlands, the US… with an output of 1,600 tons/year; In particular, the amount of pepper exported to the Japanese market is rewarded with a bonus of up to 27,000 VND/kg. With the above advantages, the company has now deployed for 200 households to participate in sustainable pepper production with certified brands Cu Kuin pepper for export to Japan, with an area of ​​nearly 100 hectares. In order to have quality products according to the requirements of partners, the company has conducted training for each participating household on farming techniques towards clean agriculture, and at the same time provided fertilizers and bio-protective drugs for the farmers. households to ensure the quality of pepper meets the set requirements. With the ambition to buy all pepper products in Cu Kuin area, in the near future the company will organize association with farmers to clean pepper for export in order to bring the brand name to the market. The participation of Ea Ktur Coffee One Member Limited Liability Company initially brought positive effects in increasing the value of pepper products. However, if there is the participation of many enterprises, the certification mark Cu Kuin pepper will grow faster and more sustainably. According to the Economic Division – District Infrastructure, to trademark Cu Kuin pepper known and used by many enterprises, in the near future the district will coordinate with specialized departments and some enterprises to build some models of pepper processing by machine and link “4 houses” in order to create export pepper products that meet the strict criteria in the world market.
