In that context, the entire agricultural sector has made great efforts to realize the “dual goal”, both ensuring disease prevention and maintaining growth momentum.

According to the General Statistics Office, the growth rate of agricultural, forestry and fishery production value in the first six months of the year was estimated at 3.84%, of which agriculture (including cultivation and livestock) increased by 3 ,71% (livestock increased by 5.73%), forestry increased by 3.98%, fishery increased by 4.25%.

GDP growth rate of AFF in the first 6 months reached over 3.6%; in which, agriculture increased by 3.51%; forestry increased by 3.5; seafood increased by 4.1%.

Regarding rice production, thanks to an increase in productivity of about 1.5 quintals/ha, rice production in the first 6 months of 2021 is estimated at 21.58 million tons (down 0.66 million tons), fully meeting consumption demand. domestic, processed, used as animal feed and exported (in which winter-spring rice yield 68.3 quintals/ha, an increase of 2.6 quintals/ha, output 20.5 million tons, an increase of 673 thousand tons compared to the winter-spring crop of 2020).

Currently, the whole country has sown over 1.89 million hectares of summer-autumn rice, an increase of 5.6%, of which more than 147.7 thousand hectares have been harvested, with an estimated yield increase of 2.2 – 2.3 quintals per year. ha compared to the same period last year.

In addition, many localities also flexibly changed the structure of crops on inefficient rice land with an area of ​​48.1 thousand hectares (localities in the South 37.9 thousand hectares, in the North 10.2 thousand hectares). ) to grow vegetables, fruits, perennial industrial plants, aquaculture with higher economic efficiency and to non-agricultural purposes.

Most of the fruit trees have increased output from 3 to 12% over the same period in 2020, such as: Mango 3.31%; dragon fruit 7.39%; grapefruit 10.68%; fabric 7.94%. At the same time, the planting of 5 types of fruit trees (dragon fruit, mango, rambutan, durian, longan) in the Mekong Delta region brings about an increase in economic efficiency by 1.5-2 times compared to the main crop.

Regarding livestock production, thanks to focusing on directing the development of livestock production towards biosecurity, increasing the herd of pigs, grazing cattle and stabilizing poultry flocks, it has met the supply of breeding stock for production to ensure basic demand for food in the country, and at the same time, closely monitor and strictly implement measures to control and prevent diseases on livestock.

Thanks to this, livestock and poultry are restored and developed. Total meat production of all kinds was estimated at 3.16 million tons, up 22.58% over the same period in 2020, specifically: Cattle increased by about 2.5%; meat output 231 thousand tons, up 4.2%; milk production was estimated at 561.1 thousand tons, up 11.2%.

Poultry flock is estimated to increase by 5.4%; live meat production reached 932.2 thousand tons, up 6.1% and egg production reached about 8,422.8 million eggs, up 5.0%. Pig herd increased by 11.6% and live meat production reached 2,002.2 thousand tons, up 8.1%.

For seafood, although there are still many difficulties in export due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, the price of pangasius has decreased and saltwater intrusion, but the weather at sea is relatively favorable, fuel prices decrease; The incentives of the CPTTP and EVFTA agreements are effectively implemented…

Therefore, in the first 6 months of the year, the total production of aquatic products is estimated at 4.1 million tons, up 2.8%; in which, mining output reached 2 million tons, up 1.4%; aquaculture production is estimated at 2.1 million tons, up 4.1% (shrimp production is estimated at 371 thousand tons, up 17%).

Regarding forestry, forest development continues to be directed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and localities, promoting planting, tending, zoning, reforestation and improving the quality of planted forests.

By the end of June 2021, the whole country has prepared nearly 650 million seedlings of all kinds for afforestation, equaling 143% compared to the same period in 2020; the area of ​​newly concentrated plantation forest reached 108,258 ha, equaling 122% over the same period in 2020.

Impressive export

Despite being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the total export turnover of agro-forestry products in the first 6 months of 2021 still increased sharply, exceeding the set plan, reaching 24.23 billion USD, up 28.2% over the same period last year. period 2020; in which main agricultural products are 10.40 billion USD, up 13.3%; seafood 4.05 billion USD, up 12.5%; forest products $8.7 billion, up 61.5%.

Contributing to that success, there are products with high export turnover, including: Rubber, tea, pepper, cashew nuts, vegetables, cassava and products from cassava, wood and wood products, rattan, bamboo, sedge carpet…

In which, rubber, tea, vegetables, cashews, cassava and cassava products increased in both volume and export value, specifically: Rubber (+41.3% in volume, +80% in value) , tea (+0.1% and +4.5%), cashew nuts (+22.2%, +11.1%), cassava and cassava products (+16.3%, +30.5% ).

Other items increased in value mainly by volume such as: Wood and wood products reached 8.1 billion USD (+74.8%), rattan, bamboo and carpets reached about 447 million USD (+78.8%) ); shrimp $ 1.66 billion, up 8.5%.

Specifically, the US (the largest market) with export turnover in the first 6 months of the year reached about 6.7 billion USD (up 59.8% over the same period in 2020 and accounted for 27.9% of total export value). , in which, mainly wood and wood products (accounting for about 60.6%).

China (2nd largest export market) with AFF export turnover of about 4.75 billion USD (up 32.1% over the same period in 2020 and accounting for 19.6% of total export value).

Compared with the import turnover of AFF in the first 6 months of the year about 21.09 billion USD, the trade surplus of the whole industry reached 3.14 billion USD.

Unlocking the market

In the face of disruptions in the consumption and export markets of agricultural products due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, in the first half of 2021, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has directed to promote the opening of agricultural markets with countries such as Peru, Australia…; actively research, forecast and take advantage of FTAs ​​to promote agricultural exports. Promote circulation, border trade, grasp the situation of production, processing and consumption of agricultural products.

In addition, coordinating with Vietnamese embassies and trade offices in other countries to build channels to exchange and provide information on key export markets such as Japan, Korea, the United States, the EU and China. … to analyze, evaluate and forecast the agricultural product market during and after the Covid-19 pandemic, thereby proposing solutions to respond promptly. Especially creating conditions for Chinese traders to enter, negotiate and purchase lychee; negotiating with other countries to connect and promote the export of fruits and seafood to China, Thailand, the EU…

Striving for a GDP growth rate of 3 – 3.2% of the whole industry, production value of the whole industry increased by 3.2 – 3.5%, of which: The value of crop production increased by 1.55%, the output of rice over 43.19 million tons; Livestock production value is over 5.93%, pork production for the whole year is estimated at 4.1 million tons and poultry meat output is estimated at over 1.9 million tons; Aquaculture production value increased by 4%; total aquaculture production of 8.7 million tons (4.82 million tons in aquaculture, 3.9 million tons in exploitation). Forestry production value increased by 3.75%; timber output is over 18 million m3, meeting the needs of processing and exporting.

To achieve the target of total AFF export turnover in 2021 of about 45 billion USD (higher than the Government’s allocation of 3 billion USD), it is necessary to implement solutions to affect key export products with potential and potential. increase export value to compensate for products that are expected to fail to meet the export turnover target for the whole year, as follows: Main agricultural products 21.5 billion USD; Forest products and furniture USD 14 billion; Seafood 8.5 billion USD; Other items are about 1 billion USD.
