Vietnam’s Robusta coffee prices increased sharply again

In addition, due to the impact of drought in early 2024, Vietnamese coffee is forecast to have a crop failure, causing the market to continue to worry about supply shortages. In addition, changing crops and intercropping other crops in coffee gardens also causes coffee output to decrease.

However, there are also some coffee growing areas that have good yields this year thanks to irrigation water and farmers focusing on care. Therefore, Vietnam’s coffee output this year is still a mystery.

Another factor raised by Mr. Do Ha Nam, Vice President of the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VICOFA), is that even though it is the main season, farmers do not sell out massively, so coffee prices stay high.

Consulting some coffee growers in the Central Highlands, we learned that depending on conditions, they will decide when to sell coffee.

Some gardens that do not have the conditions to dry coffee will sell fresh coffee immediately upon harvest, others will dry coffee in storage and sell about 10-20% of the output to cover harvesting and irrigation costs. water, the rest will be sold gradually.

Last season, many billionaire farmers also bought more coffee to store from the money from previously selling durian and pepper.

Last year, coffee’s price increased more than gold with an increase of up to 2 times and an increase of up to 3 times in just 2 years. Therefore, some people choose this as an investment channel with high profitability despite great risks.

Today’s coffee price in the domestic market will increase, exceeding 110,000 VND/kg.
