Earlier, in early April, Chinese merchants, using similar buying and payment methods, “flooded” into the famous pepper area of the Central Highlands, Chu Se district, collecting pepper to the garden, using cars. cars, passenger cars carrying 500 -1,000 kg, then gathered to a certain transit point to use large trucks to transport to the northern border.
Collectors are quite generous, often paying 1-2% higher than the market price, paying cash on the spot so farmers are ready to sell immediately.
Chu Se Pepper Association said that, even though they buy a higher price, illegal buyers still benefit because if they buy the main road by invoice, as if the local agents will have to pay a 5% tax. .
There are no official statistics yet, but the Sesame Pepper Association estimates that, in many localities of Gia Lai, up to 50% of the pepper is bought by Chinese traders in this form.
Chairman of Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA), Mr. Do Ha Nam said, almost all pepper output from North Central Coast and North Central Highlands were purchased by Chinese traders in the same way.
Several years ago, when shrimp harvest, rubber tapping, cassava slices or sweet potatoes were harvested, many Chinese merchants went to the rubber farms and private rubber processing facilities to pay for rubber at the moment.
