In particular, the average price of China’s durian imports from Thailand reached 4,947 USD/ton, an increase of 0.9%. The average import price of Vietnamese durian reached 3,962 USD/ton, down 8.7%. The average price of imported durian from the Philippines reached 2,628 USD/ton, down 28.5%.
Also according to the Chinese Customs Authority, in September, Vietnam became the largest durian supplier to this market with nearly 177,000 tons, worth 640.72 million USD, an increase of 90% in volume and an increase of 71.5%. % in value compared to September 2023.
In the first 9 months of this year, China imported 618,000 tons of durian from Vietnam, worth 2.45 billion USD, up 72.2% in volume and 57.3% in value over the same period in 2023.
In contrast, in September, China reduced durian imports from Thailand. But in the nine months of this year, Thailand is still the largest durian supplier to China, with nearly 755,000 tons, worth 3.73 billion USD, down 14.1% in volume and 13.3% in value. prices compared to the same period in 2023.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in October, durian harvest output decreased significantly when durian in the Central Highlands was at the end of the positive season, while durian in the Western and Southeast provinces was in the off-season.
Durian output in October is estimated at 154,200 tons, down 15% compared to September. Overall for the 10 months of this year, the country’s durian output is estimated at 1.139 million tons, up more than 20% over the same period in 2023.
According to the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, durian exports in October still grew strongly. It is estimated that in 10 months, durian exports reached 3.1 billion USD.
Sharing with Thanh Nien, Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen, General Secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, said that currently Thailand and the Philippines have run out of main season durians. Meanwhile, Vietnam continues to have durian in the off-season. In the last months of this year, Vietnam will be the largest durian supplier to China.
