According to calculations from preliminary statistics of the General Department of Customs, in March 2020, cashew exports increased sharply by 68.4% compared to February 2020 and turnover also increased by 67%, reaching 43,944 tons, equivalent to 309.24 million USD. Cashew export prices in March 2020 decreased by 0.8% compared to February 2020 export prices, reaching US $ 7,037.2 / ton.
On average, in the first quarter of 2020, the country exported 94,678 tons of cashews, earning 666.9 million USD, up 19% in volume and 4.1% in turnover over the same period in 2019; cashew export price averaged US $ 7,043.9 / ton, down 12.5%.
The United States is the largest consumer market for Vietnamese cashews, accounting for nearly 37% of the country's total cashew exports and exports, reaching 34,545 tons, equivalent to US $ 245.27 million, up 36, 5% in volume and up 19.1% in turnover over the same period in 2019.
Ranked second in terms of turnover is the EU market accounting for over 25% of total volume and total turnover, reaching 23,899 tons, equivalent to US $ 169.75 million, up 26.3% in volume and up 9.9% in needle rank.
Next, the Netherlands market accounted for over 11% of the total volume and turnover, reaching 10,669 tons, equivalent to US $ 79.1 million, up 53.7% in volume and 32.1% in turnover.
In the first quarter of 2020, cashew exports increased sharply in the following markets: Saudi Arabia increased the most by 170% in volume and 139% in turnover (reaching 1,634 tons, equivalent to 10.34 million USD); Greece increased by 71.2% in volume and 61.7% in turnover (reaching 356 tons, equivalent to US $ 2.58 million); Iraq increased by 77.8% in volume and by 55.8% in turnover (reaching 480 tons, equivalent to 3.81 million USD), however, exports to China dropped sharply by 39.9% in volume and decreased. 46.7% in turnover, reaching 6,433 tons, equivalent to 46.18 million USD; Russia decreased by 23.8% in volume and decreased 36.7% in turnover, reaching 1,515 tons, equivalent to 9.96 million USD; Hong Kong decreased 27.4% in volume and 34% in turnover, reaching 417 tons, equivalent to 4.02 million USD.
