In the past three years, Brazil has increased its export volume by 134%, although the export value has decreased by 21% compared to 2016.
In 2016, Brazil exported a total of 31,085 tons of pepper, accounting for 99% of which is pepper, reaching an average monthly export of 2,590 tons. In that year, Brazil achieved a total export turnover of up to 246 million USD, then recorded the average price of the total Brazilian pepper exported at 7,982 USD / ton for all pepper and 2,237 USD / ton for ground pepper.
2017 witnessed a sudden increase in the number of Brazilian pepper exported. A total of 59,501 tons of pepper were exported, 99% of which were in the form of pepper, up 91% compared to 2016 before. On average this year, Brazil exported 4,958 tons of pepper a month, recording the highest figure of 8,848 tons of pepper exported in October 2017. The total value of pepper exports in 2017 reported by Brazil was US $ 274 million, up 11% compared to the value of exports in 2016. The average export value of Brazil pepper in 2017 was US $ 4,622. / ton for pepper and at USD 2,140 / ton for ground pepper.
By the end of 2018, Brazil exported a total of 72,580 tons of pepper, of which 99% was pepper. As a result, an increase of 134% compared to 2016 and an increase of 22% compared to 2017. In 2018, Brazil exported an average of 6,048 tons of pepper per month, having recorded the highest number of exports. November was at 12,791 tons. The total export value of Brazil in 2018 was at US $ 195 million, down 21% compared to 2016 and 29% compared to 2017. The average export price of Brazil in 2018 was only 2,689. USD / tonne for pepper and 1,954 USD / ton for ground pepper.
In 2018 alone, Brazil exported pepper to more than 80 countries around the world, including pepper producing countries except Indonesia. The top five destinations are Germany with 14,677 tons, accounting for 21% of total export pepper, followed by the US with 10,764 tons, Vietnam with 9,763 tons, Morocco with 6,541 tons and Mexico with 4,285 tons.
