Pepper died simultaneously

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong (residing in Hamlet 10, Dak O Commune, Bu Gia Map District) is one of the worst affected households. Ms. Huong said: Since 2010, when pepper prices are very high, her family has invested over 1 billion VND to plant about 3,000 new posts. Then, the number reached more than 6,000 pillars … Suddenly, in 2017, more than 1,000 pillars became infected and died.

By the end of 2018, more than 5,000 remaining pillars began to yellow, dry branches, dead like fallen … And, over the past month, nearly all Huong Huong pepper gardens have been “wiped out”.

Similarly, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ly's family (village 9) was also damaged with 2,500 venom, equivalent to nearly 1.5 hectares. Up to now, the entire pepper garden of Mrs. Ly's family is 80% damaged. According to Ms. Ly, the lush green pepper garden suddenly turned to yellowing, dried leaves and died without any cause.

Facing that situation, Ms. Li used all methods to eliminate the disease but still did not recover. Pepper died in clusters and then spread quickly to other pillars, making Ms. Ly's family sit on a fire. In addition to the dead venom, the venom was promptly isolated but not infected but also meager, lack of vitality.

As for Le Dinh Thanh's family (residing in Thanh Son hamlet, Thanh An commune, Hon Quan district), about 3 months ago the pepper garden with more than 2,000 venom suddenly turned yellow, lost its leaves, and died of unknown cause. Immediately after finding out that the pepper showed signs of illness, Thanh rented a hoe machine to dig a deep ditch to isolate the sick pepper but still failed.

Truong Van Nghiep's family (Tan Phuoc hamlet, Tan Tien commune, Bu Dop district) with nearly 3,000 standard venues ready for harvesting, in April last year, thousands of pepper venom suddenly lost their leaves and rotten roots. black and constantly spreading his family could not return soon …

The cause of death is unknown

Mr. Ha Anh Dung – Director of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology – said: “Before the death, Binh Phuoc Department of Science and Technology invited scientists to survey, research and find out the cause. Since then there are solutions to help people cope with pests on pepper plants.

However, so far it has not been able to find the cause and provide effective, specific solutions for this crop. Currently, people growing pepper in the province are still saving their own pepper gardens with their inherent experience, along with the recommendations of the authorities.

Before that, in 2018, Binh Phuoc province had more than 570ha pepper died of disease quickly. According to Mr. Dung, the shortage of irrigation water in the dry season, in the rainy season, tornadoes …; more and more makes pepper growers in Binh Phuoc province face many difficulties.

Binh Phuoc is the locality with the largest pepper area in the country, with 17,178 ha, an increase of more than 700 ha compared to 2017. However, recently the pepper productivity has decreased significantly. The 2017-2018 crop only reached 14 quintals / ha, the yield decreased by more than 40% compared to the crop year 2016-2017.

The disease died quickly, causing pepper to die in mass, the damage level was over 70%, concentrated in some districts and towns such as: Bu Gia Map 310ha, Binh Long 79ha, Hon Quan 54ha, Bu Dop 41ha, Loc Ninh 25ha …
