Average rice export price in the first quarter of the year reached US $ 461.9 / ton, up 6.3% over the same period in 2019. In the first 3 months of the year alone, the Philippines ranked first in the rice export market of Vietnam with 36.7% market share, production reached 594.2 thousand tons (up 8.2%), value reached 257.2 million USD (up 19.1%) compared to the same period last year.

The Agro-Processing and Market Development Department (MARD) further informed that on the world market, the export price of Indian rice in mid-April 2020 increased to an eight-month high. Specifically, 5% broken rice of India reached 375 – 380 USD / ton, the highest level since the first week of August 2019, significantly higher than 361 – 365 USD / ton listed. the previous month.

Meanwhile, the price of Thai standard 5% broken rice by the end of April 2020 reduced to US $ 530 – 538 / ton, lower than the peak reached in April of US $ 555 – 580 / ton. . This is also the highest level since April 2013.

In the domestic market, prices of rice in the Mekong Delta generally tend to increase in April 2020, especially ordinary rice.

In some localities, traders collect a variety of ordinary rice for processing into white rice for export and stockpiling, thus driving up prices, especially right after the Government allowed exports at the beginning. April 2020.
