Coffee prices fluctuate slightly (December 31, 2020)

The US Senate refused to raise funding for families causing USDX to bounce back, while many traders soon left the market with the New Year holiday of 2021.

KAt the end of the session, Robusta coffee prices on ICE Europe – London decreased. Futures for delivery in March decreased 7 USD, down to 1,376 USD / ton and futures for May delivery decreased 6 USD, to 1,387 USD / ton, the slight decrease. Trading volume very low below average.

In contrast, Arabica coffee prices on the ICE US – New York floor were stable. Mar spot futures did not change, remained at 125.4 cents / lb and futures for May delivery also remained unchanged, at 127.3 cents / lb. Very narrow, rare fluctuations. Trading volume very low below average.

The price of coffee beans in the Central Highlands provinces decreased by 100 VND, down fluctuating in the frame of 32,600 – 33,000 VND / kg.

Export Robusta coffee price type 2, 5% broken black, stood at 1,487 USD / ton, FOB – HCM, with the difference plus 80-100 USD / ton in term of May in London.

Reais copper fell slightly 0.15%, to stand at $ 1 = 5.1890 Reais due to market correction of USD index after the US Senate refused to increase the amount of pension for families.

Coffee futures markets continued to be quiet with very low trade volumes as most traders left the market early with a holiday spanning the New Year’s Day 2021. There is also a consumer concern.
