According to preliminary data reported by the General Department of Vietnam Customs, pepper exports in May 2020 reached 30,351 tons of all kinds of pepper, down 5,825 tons, which means a decrease of 16.10% over the previous month and a decrease of 7,555 tons. , which is 19.93% lower than the same period last year.

The value of pepper export turnover in the month reached 60.9 million USD, down 11.69 million USD, which means a decrease of 16.1% compared to the previous month and 32.3 million USD, which is 34.66% lower than in the same period last year.

The accumulated export volume of pepper in the first 5 months of 2020 totaled 147,115 tons of pepper of all kinds, up 942 tons, or up 0.64% compared to the export volume of the first 5 months of 2019.

However, the value of export turnover in the first 5 months of 2020 totaled $ 309.33 million, down $ 66.71 million, or down 17.74% over the same period.

Average export price in May 2020 reached USD 2,007 / ton, equivalent to the average export price of April 2020.

According to IPC statistics, world pepper prices in May 2020 generally had mixed fluctuations. Prices of Vietnamese black pepper grade 500 Gr / l-Asta increased by 15%, grade 550 Gr / l-Asta increased by 14.55%, while that of Indonesian black pepper grade ASTA increased by 5.39% and Indian specialty black MG1 decreased by 0.52%. The price of Vietnamese white pepper in the FAQ category increased by 15.23%, the Indonesian white pepper rose 3.28% while the Chinese white pepper decreased by 3.71%.
