Early this morning (May 23), pepper prices in the Central Highlands and the South increased sharply.

Pepper prices today were the highest at VND 45,000 / kg, recorded in Ba Ria – Vung Tau, the lowest was VND 43,000 in Dong Nai.

Specifically, prices of pepper in Dak Nong (Gia Nghia) and Dak Lak (Ea H’leo) traded at VND 43,500 / kg.

Pepper prices in Ba Ria – Vung Tau provinces were unchanged at the highest level of VND 45,000 / kg.

Pepper price in Binh Phuoc was bought at 44,000 VND / kg.

Pepper price in Gia Lai is priced at VND 43,500 / kg.

Particularly, pepper prices in Dong Nai are selling at VND 43,000 / kg. This is still the lowest price in the Central Highlands provinces and the South.

World pepper prices

Spot prices of world pepper at Kochi (India) fell by Rs 100 a quintal, or 0.30%, to Rs 32,750 a quintal. Pepper prices for May delivery were unchanged at Rs 20,530 a quintal. September pepper price (SMX – Singapore) in September remained stable at 6,500 USD / ton.

According to Mr. Hoang Phuoc Binh, Vice Chairman of Chu Se Pepper Association (Gia Lai), in recent days, the price of pepper in this area has tended to increase slightly and is currently at around VND 38,000-39,000 / kg.

Information from the Center for Industry and Trade Information (Ministry of Industry and Trade) shows that pepper prices are increasing in all key growing areas, some places have returned to the 40,000 VND / kg mark.

Specifically, on 6/5: black pepper price in Ba Ria – Vung Tau was 40,000 VND / kg; Binh Phuoc 39,000 VND / kg, Dong Nai 39,000 VND / kg …

Mr. Binh said that pepper price increased thanks to import demand starting to return to some markets. After a pause due to the Covid-19 epidemic, Chinese customers returned to buy both black and white pepper. In particular, white pepper is being bought by them.

Besides, due to the recent low price of pepper, is considered to have been at the bottom, so many speculators actively bought. This also contributed significantly to the price increase of pepper.
