In particular, Guangdong planted the most with an area of about 278 thousand hectares, accounting for about 50% of China's total area.
Estimated total output of litchi in China in 2020 is about 2.55 million tons, up 11.3% compared to 2019 and approximately 2018's output (about 2.6 million tons).
Due to the weather, this year's litchi crop in China began harvesting about half a month earlier than every year and is expected to last about two more months, ending around early July.
Litchi fruit is currently sold on markets and online stores in China. Hainan litchi fruit is currently harvested earliest, followed by Guangdong and other localities.

In this year's litchi season, the best litchi fruits in major growing areas including Guangdong, Hainan, Guangxi and Fujian will all be sold on the Taobao network.
Litchi fruit is grown widely in the southern provinces of the Truong Giang River such as Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Hainan and other provinces with lesser yields such as Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan.
