Bac Giang has thieu litchi production accounting for more than 50% of the country's total litchi. In the context of complicated COVID-19 epidemic, the top priority for the locality is to urgently circulate goods.

Notably, this year's litchi crop of Bac Giang will have 30% of the area in early ripening. This will be a premise to ensure continued availability of good harvest and good price. It is forecasted that fabric output / ha this year will increase higher than 2019.

At the present time, litchi areas are exported to Japan in Quat Du 2 village, Phuc Hoa commune (Tan Yen) with an area of ​​5 hectares, 8 households participate, litchi grows, grows well, bears fruit, no pests …

Mr. Ngo Van Cuong, a villager, said: “My family has 2 hectares for growing lychee for export. With the current fruiting rate, it is expected to harvest 30 tons of fruits. Litchi is expected to ripen in the middle of May. Join the export model, the family always adheres strictly to the cultivation process so that the product meets the standard … ”.

From the experiences of previous years, Mr. Duong Van Thai, Chairman of Bac Giang People's Committee, said that the province focused on promoting the expansion of consumption markets, especially for traditional markets, creating favorable conditions. It is beneficial for traders, corporations and distributors who come to sign contracts early with cooperatives, businesses and cooperative groups, farms purchasing and consuming cloth.

To prepare the export stages to Japan, the province coordinated with the Plant Protection Department to select and ask the Japanese side to approve 19 plantation area codes with an area of ​​103 hectares and an estimated yield of 600 tons in Yen The and Luc Ngan districts.

The province has cooperated with 3 domestic companies such as Ameii, Chanh Thu and Global to link the consumption of products exported to the Japanese market. The first export shipment is expected to be implemented by the end of May 2020.

For the Chinese market, the province has prepared specific scenarios for difficult export situations such as: Maintaining 149 codes of litchi growing areas in 4 districts (Tan Yen, Yen The, Luc Nam, Luc Ngan) with an area of ​​nearly 15,900 ha, production is estimated at 94,400 tons (accounting for nearly 60% of total fabric output).

In addition, Bac Giang province has prepared the fabric consumption scenarios: The most favorable scenario is export to all markets; The second scenario is that exports are difficult, but still exportable; The third scenario in the most difficult scenario is not exporting, then the biggest focus will be on domestic market consumption.

Bac Giang currently has 288 facilities granted Chinese packaging codes eligible for food hygiene and safety, meeting the requirements of this market. At the present time, the Chinese side is focusing on solutions to prevent and combat COVID-19 epidemic, the risk affecting Vietnam's export.

Therefore, the local Agriculture sector has proactively ensured all production of litchi exported to China by official quotas; at the same time, maintaining 18 plantation codes with the output of over 1,500 tons meeting export standards to the US and EU …

In the context of the COVID-19 epidemic, the domestic market is arguably the most sustainable market and should be maximized. For the domestic market, Mr. Duong Van Thai suggested that MARD connect to the system of large domestic retail groups to participate in the local consumption of lychee.

By 2020, Bac Giang province will have over 28,000 hectares of litchi, with an estimated output of over 160,000 tons, an increase of 10,000 tons compared to 2019; including 6,000 hectares of litchi, yielding 45,000 tons; main lychee season is on 22,100 hectares with the output of 115,000 tons.

The area of ​​litchi produced according to VietGAP standard of the province has 15,000 ha, accounting for 53% of the total area of ​​the province, the output is estimated at 110,000 tons, accounting for nearly 69% of the total output. GlobalGAP certified litchi has 80 hectares, the output is estimated to reach 500 tons to serve high-end markets.
