Coffee prices at warehouses around the port of Ho Chi Minh City moved sideways at VND 32,100 / kg.

The price of robusta coffee delivered in May 202020 decreased by 0.9% to 1,237 USD / ton. Price of arabica coffee delivered in May 5/2020 decreased by 2% to 106.6 UScent / pound.

Since mid-February, the price of arabica coffee in the commodity market has increased by 13% and coffee has become the commodity with the best price increase among commodity – main materials.

In particular, in the last 3 trading sessions last week, coffee prices have risen to a record high since mid-2016.

The recent rise in coffee prices is mainly due to prolonged heavy rains in Brazil – the largest coffee producing country in the world.

Although the usual rain during this time every year will help coffee trees grow well, but the heavy rain is adversely affecting roots, causing leaves and fruits to fall; at the same time make it easier for pests to attack coffee plants.
