In particular, for agricultural production, the most heavily affected areas are coastal areas from Rach Gia City to Ha Tien City, along Cai Lon and Cai Be rivers and districts in U Minh Thuong.

In particular, about 15,000 hectares in the districts of U Minh Thuong, where dependence mainly on the earliest sun sowing, is harvested in January 2020.

Approximately 80,000 ha of U Minh Thuong, An Bien, An Minh, Chau Thanh, Giong Rieng, Go Quao, Tan Hiep, Rach Gia, Hon Dat, Kien Luong and Giang Thanh districts will be harvested in February. the harvest is completed around mid-March 2020.

On average, 1 hectare of farmers achieves an average yield of 6.8-8 tons / ha, after deducting expenses, the profit is from 24 to 32 million VND / ha (depending on the variety of rice and paddy fields).

According to Mr. Lam, agricultural production of the province is in very difficult conditions such as the outbreak of African swine cholera, the market and the price of rice are unstable. Drought, flood, landslides are complicated. But this year's DX crop can confirm completely victory in both aspects of yield and price.

To win the DX crop this year, the agricultural sector has flexibly implemented the restructuring of crops, shifting from rice land to growing crops with high economic value, partly increasing crops for some types. Promoting synchronous application of integrated models and solutions in rice production such as: integrated pest control IPM, “3 reductions and 3 increases”, “1 to 5 reductions”, combined with flower growing on the banks of fields, building large sustainable commodity-producing areas to ensure food safety and environmental protection.

Soc Trang and Can Tho hit big seasons

DX rice is in the harvest season, farmers said: Fresh rice began to increase slightly by VND 100-200 / kg compared to the previous week. In the sweet alluvial area around Can Tho City and the coastal area of ​​Soc Trang, many rice fields have been harvested.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Summer, Director of Can Tho Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said: This is a very exciting season for farmers, the highest-yielding rice, the average fresh rice reached 7.2 tons / ha, much higher than the average yield above 5-6 tons / ha in the previous 5 years.

With over 79,200 ha, the output of Can Tho DX rice is over 570,000 tons. That is because the local farmers apply the right seasonal calendar, favorable weather, few pests and diseases. Enterprises, cooperatives and traders buy rice from the field to the storehouse. The price of fresh rice sold exceeds VND 5,000 – 5,400 / kg, depending on the variety and quality.

From Can Tho to the south of Hau river in Soc Trang province, rice farmers said the conversion and received unexpected effects. In many early rice fields, the coastal area has a good harvest and high productivity thanks to the early crop.

On the other hand, Soc Trang is changing the rice cultivation structure towards gradually increasing the proportion of specialty aromatic rice accounting for over 51%. In which, ST rice and Tai Nguyen rice have nearly 17,000 ha, average yield reaches 5.5-6 tons / ha.

In particular, farmers sell specialty aromatic rice at a price of 7,000-7,400 VND / kg (fresh rice), the highest level compared to other rice varieties.

In addition, high-quality fragrant rice varieties such as OM5451, OM6976, Dai Thom 8 … account for over 43% of the structure. , OM576, is currently reduced to 2.1% of its area.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City, from the beginning of the year to the end of February, enterprises in centralized industrial parks have purchased and processed with a stock of over 51,200 tons of rice and 14,600 tons of rice.

In addition, businesses outside the area with purchasing warehouse located in the city purchased 25,000 tons of rice and nearly 2,900 tons of rice. Particularly in the first 2 months of the year, rice still accounted for a large proportion in the group of major export products, estimated to reach over 140,000 thousand tons, an increase of more than 6% compared to the same period in 2019, with an export turnover of about 64 million.
