According to the World Coffee Organization (ICO), prices of all types of coffee fell in January. Exports in the first three months of coffee year 2019 – 2020 also decreased by nearly 6%.

The price of ICO synthetic coffee fell back 8.9% in January to 106.89 US cents / pound after two consecutive months of increase.

The reason is that the Brazilian coffee crop entered a bumper year in the two-year cycle of arabica coffee and macroeconomic instability put pressure on the market.

The prices of all coffee groups dropped in January this year, reversing the upward momentum recorded in December 2019.

In particular, the Brazilian arabica coffee group has the largest discount, 12.4% to 110.73 US cents / pound.

Followed by arabica coffee group from other countries and Colombian arabica coffee group, with prices down 9.5% and 8.7% respectively to 142.19 US cents / pound and 147.52 US cents / pound.

The price of robusta coffee also decreased by 3.7% compared to the last month of 2019 to 70.55 US cents / pound, partly because of the increasing reaction to coffee exports from Vietnam and Indonesia.
