Complete and exceed ¾ targets

Notably, in 2019, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has directed units to actively negotiate for more high-value fresh fruits to export to the US, Australia, Japan and China. For the fishery sector, the US has recognized the equivalent of Vietnamese catfish products, reducing import tax of tra and shrimp from our country to the US, mostly at 0%; China has officially approved the import of 48 live aquatic species and 128 kinds of semi-processed and processed aquatic products from Vietnam.

In the forestry sector, the ratification and implementation of the VPA / FLEGT Agreement and participation in Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) have brought many opportunities for the wood and forest product processing and export industry. .

The next two completed targets are the forest coverage rate of 41.85% and the rate of communes meeting the new rural criteria of 54% with 111 district units meeting / completing new rural construction tasks. .

The target of low GDP growth is 2.2%. The reason for the low agricultural growth in 2019 is mainly due to the African swine cholera epidemic (which reduces about 1.1% of the industry growth).

Achieving the above result is due to many factors combined. Including the investment environment continues to improve, creating a new rebound in investment in agriculture.

In 2019, the country had 17 investment projects in agriculture with a total investment of over 20,000 billion VND, which was inaugurated and put into operation.

The force of agricultural enterprises continued to grow strongly with 2,756 newly established agricultural enterprises in 2019, an increase of 25.3% compared to 2018, bringing the total number of agricultural enterprises to 12,581 enterprises, up 36.23%. .

In addition to the achieved results, Vietnam's agricultural sector still has limitations, difficulties and challenges that need to be focused on overcoming in the coming time.

At the summation meeting of the agricultural sector, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized that in 2020, there are many important events of the Party, the State and the agricultural sector must play a better role to solve difficult problems for life. , for production, import and export. The Prime Minister suggested Vietnam's agriculture to achieve some targets in 2020, such as: GDP growth rate in agriculture sector reached 3%; export turnover of agriculture, forestry and fishery reached over 43 billion USD; forest coverage rate is 42%; the rate of reaching new rural standards is 59%, at least 121 district-level units have met the standards of fulfilling the task of building new rural areas.

By 2025, the Prime Minister proposed to achieve an average GDP growth of 3-3.5%, with 5 more agricultural exports of US $ 1 billion or more to bring Vietnam. The country has 15 agricultural products with export value of US $ 1 billion or more with a total export value of US $ 50 billion, ranking first in ASEAN and in the top 10 of the world.

Striving to have 25,000 enterprises directly invest in agriculture, doubling the current number, 35,000 agricultural cooperatives, 2.3 times as much as the core to serve the agricultural restructuring.

Striving to have 80% of communes meet new rural standards, the income of farmers reaches 80 million VND / year, 2 times the current.
