Binh Phuoc is one of the localities with a large pepper area in the country. Recently, clean pepper production models have been formed and attracted the participation of enterprises, cooperatives have formed a production linkage to limit market risks.Sustainable model

The Hung Phuoc Sustainable Pepper Farming Cooperative (Bu Dop) operates under the new model cooperative model, whose main business is to grow pepper with the largest scale in the province. The foundation of the cooperative is that among the total members, pepper growers have been participating in the sustainable clean growing club associated with the Nedspice company, which has a large number and has been certified to produce clean pepper according to R.A.

Therefore, all production processes of cooperatives are closely monitored, only one member does not meet the production requirements of the enterprise, the contract between the cooperative and the business is no longer valid.

Cooperative to plant sustainable clean pepper Quyet Chi (Loc Thuan) goes into production also meets the market's requirements for food safety and hygiene, with clear origin. Implementing clean production, the cooperative has identified good varieties and varieties according to customer requirements. Uniform production process ensures a clean product and preserves the green environment; to ensure that the land is not fallow and has a large output to attract businesses to buy and process. At the same time, the cooperative also stands out to provide agricultural materials for its members to ensure quality and good prices.

Environmental benefits

Currently, Binh Phuoc has built 6 clean pepper growing chains. These chains are all owned by cooperatives and successfully linked with processing enterprises to export pepper abroad.

Pepper production in the chain not only enhances the value of the product but the first thing is to ensure a green-clean environment, ensure the health of the community and the pepper growers. Since joining the cooperative, all members have to follow the process of taking care of pepper from fertilizer application to pest control. Production in this way helps farmers reduce the amount of chemical fertilizer and reduce the use of chemical sprays, thus helping to harm humans and the environment.

In addition, farmers still maintain planting grass species (jasmine, peanut grass …) in pepper gardens to maintain vegetation, ensure moisture, and maintain natural enemies. In particular, maintaining this kind of “uninvited guest” helps pepper growers not to worry about the use of herbicides, both toxic and environmentally polluted.

Mr. Bui Quoc Hai, Chairman and Director of Hung Phuoc Cooperative, said that when producing clean pepper, growers mainly use organic fertilizer, limiting chemical fertilizers. Pesticides only select the ones on the allowed list and use them when necessary, so they save costs and protect the environment.

Members of cooperatives are aware that the law of the market is that farmers do not determine prices but depend on consumers. Accordingly, pepper growers must obey the rules of the market, even in favorable times due to insufficient supply of demand.

Clean pepper production along the value chain is being developed by Binh Phuoc in recent years. This is a path that needs to be replicated to benefit people, cooperatives, businesses and the environment.
