Her family does not use chemical fertilizers or pesticides but instead uses organic fertilizer and biological products to protect and take care of the plants. Therefore, the organic farming process is completely suitable with nature and does not adversely affect the environment. Thereby, creating conditions for beneficial and harmful microorganisms to live peacefully in pepper gardens.

In addition, the process of harvesting, processing and preserving must also comply with the criteria to ensure food safety and hygiene, so the organic pepper products of the cooperative group are very safe for users. On the other hand, when implementing the organic farming model, the most obvious effect is that the yield, quality and price of pepper are always guaranteed. For 1 ha of organic pepper, her family harvested from 1.1-1.2 tons / crop.

For the model of planting and cultivating organic pepper according to international standards, both protecting the environment, consumers health, and prices are stable. In order to ensure a stable output for clean pepper products, the People's Committee of Gio An commune has also cooperated with Organics More Company in Ho Chi Minh City to cooperate in exporting all organic pepper in the area. European market.

Currently, 52 hectares of pepper in the commune have been certified by the Unison Control EU as an organic pepper production area. Therefore, pepper, after being harvested and processed by the company, is bought to the household without being subject to the fluctuations of market prices, thus bringing high economic efficiency to the families participating in the production. .

Mr. Le Xuan Thanh's family, in Tan Van village, Gio An commune, said that my family cultivates nearly 1 hectare of organic pepper. When participating in the cultivation of clean drainage, I found it very beneficial and effective. By not using my family's inorganic fertilizers, can I take advantage of organic fertilizer from livestock farms? Besides, the use of biological products to replace plant protection drugs has helped my family. have to spend as much as before but the efficiency is great.

“Especially in this process of growing organic pepper, I realized that the life expectancy of pepper is longer and less pest and disease than the old method. Along with that, the product consumption is done well, the price is high compared to the market, so it ensures the rights of households participating in the model. After deducting expenses, each family earned a profit of VND 80-100 million. ”, Mr. Thanh said.

Quang Tri currently has over 2,500 ha of pepper; in which, the exploiting area is 2,042 ha, the average output of 2,000 tons / year. However, at present a lot of pepper areas in districts of Gio Linh, Vinh Linh, Cam Lo, Hai Lang … epidemics die quickly and die slowly.

Along with that, the current price of very dry peppercorns is only about 40,000 VND / kg making people depressed, restoring pepper gardens is difficult. For the method of cultivating organic pepper according to international standards, it will be a new direction, which is sustainable, long-term and stabilizes the output for farmers.

In 2018 alone, the Organic Pepper Cooperative Group of Gio An Commune exported more than 18 tons of organic pepper abroad at prices higher than the market price from 18-20 prices depending on the type; in 2019, exported 45 tons of organic pepper at a price higher than the market price of 12-15. The results have contributed to promoting the movement of agricultural production towards organic in the area, while protecting the friendly living environment and helping people feel secure in investing in production.

Le Phuoc Hieu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Gio An Commune, said that compared to the traditional pepper farming model, this model has achieved high results in contributing to protecting the environment as well as the health of people directly involved. manufacturing.

To support farmers in sustainable farming, the commune has focused on building production value chains, creating a close link between enterprises and pepper growers in production, processing and consumption to improve their capacity. yield, quality and income for pepper growers; At the same time, the commune has been able to link with companies and enterprises in the southern provinces. At present, the commune's organic pepper has been exported through demanding markets in Europe. Therefore, the price is always 10-15 times higher than the market price.

“In the coming time, we will continue to mobilize people to maintain the existing organic pepper area as well as further development, striving for the goal of 100% of the pepper area in the whole commune being produced. in an organic way. ”, Mr. Le Phuoc Hieu emphasized.
