According to the assessment of IPC, producing and trading lakes pepper The world is being affected by many adverse factors such as continuously falling prices, erratic weather and climate change. Consumers increasingly focus on high quality products, ensuring food hygiene and safety, while prices are unpredictable, production costs increase …
As the largest pepper producing and exporting country in the world, with an export of about 250,000 tons / year, according to Mr. Le Quoc Doanh – Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development – Pepper production has created jobs for more than 200,000 households. In the past few years, Vietnam's pepper processing capacity has also been significantly improved, approaching world standards.
Mr. Doanh also acknowledged that the pepper industry is facing two major challenges: quality and price. In particular, during the period 2015-2019, the price of pepper decreased from USD 10 / kg to USD 2 / kg because in the period of 2008-2014, the area of pepper cultivation expanded significantly.
However, Mr. Doanh also assessed that the demand for pepper products in the world is still very large and that pepper is not only used in food but also in health care, cosmetics and medicine.
“The problem is how to get farmers the best price” – Mr. Doanh questioned the delegates.
Therefore, at this conference, the delegates discussed solutions for sustainable pepper cultivation, meeting the requirements of the use as well as focusing on discussing issues related to improving the quality of production, processing and trade.
The conference took place in three days with the import-export conferences, technical conferences, exhibitions of domestic and foreign import-export enterprises, visiting pepper gardens in Ba Ria – Vung Tau.
