China is the largest export market of Vietnam, averaging 27% of total agricultural and aquatic product export value of the whole country and accounting for 30% of total export turnover of all kinds of goods to this market. However, China is currently only the 12th import market for coffee and the 4th for tea in Vietnam. Therefore, the potential and demand for importing agricultural products in general, coffee and tea in particular of China are still very large.

According to the Minister Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Developmentn Nguyễn Xuân Cường, Vietnam and China are the two largest agricultural exporting countries in the world, the agricultural products of the two countries are mutually reinforcing to develop, having similar cultural similarities, especially in in the use of beverages like tea and coffee. This is a great opportunity for businesses of the two countries to cooperate in developing production, processing and trading of tea and coffee, which not only serves the people of the two countries, but also targets the global market with a population of 7.7 billion people. .

Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong hoped that through this forum, businesses would capture information, learn more opportunities, especially seek cooperation to exploit the best strengths in the market and resources. of this agricultural group to develop the value chain.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Korea Han Truong Phu said that China and Vietnam are countries with tradition of growing tea with large output. The two countries have important positions in the world tea market and China is a big market in Vietnam's tea exports.

Vietnamese tea and coffee hold an important position in the Chinese market. Many large Vietnamese enterprises with products are enthusiastically welcomed by Chinese people. Hopefully, there will be more big market space to develop Vietnam's tea and coffee industry in China.

Vietnam currently ranks seventh in the world in global tea production. Vietnam exports tea to over 60 markets and ranks fifth in the world in tea export. In 2018, Vietnam has exported tea output of 128,000 tons with a value of $ 219 million. Vietnam has 15 enterprises and cooperatives producing tea under RA certification and many enterprises and cooperatives producing organic standards, VietGAP, etc. In particular, Vietnam has 18,000 hectares of shan snow forest cultivating itself. However, do not use chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

According to Nguyen Huu Tai, Chairman of the Vietnam Tea Association, to develop tea products along with improving the quality, businesses are stepping up close links with households and tea growing cooperatives to organize production. Regarding coffee, Vietnam has exported over 80 markets, ranked second in the world and a global leader in robusta coffee. In 2018, coffee export turnover reached 1.88 million tons, with a value of 3.5 billion USD. Currently, the application of sustainable coffee production standards, farmers planting coffee according to technological processes account for over 57%; The rate of applying coffee production and processing process according to UTZ international standard is 11%, 4C reaches 17.5% … Vietnam's coffee processing technology has prospered.

Given the potential of market development for tea and coffee in the Chinese market, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Toan, Director of the Department of Agricultural Product Processing and Market Development, said that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development enterprises of the two countries can promote production linkages, supply of raw materials for processing and market development.
