Domestic prices are rising

At present, the pepper growing area in the Southeast is harvesting at the final stage, the source of supply to the market is no longer abundant. At that time, small speculators, traders and agents moved to the reserve stage, so the price of pepper continued to grow day by day.

Although the number of pepper harvested at the end of the season was not good, especially the humidity was still high due to lack of sunlight but on 6/4 morning, in Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, pepper prices black bucket rose to 104,000 VND / kg, on average, the daily price increased by nearly 1,000 VND / kg, the price of white pepper was 140,000 VND / kg, the price of specialty pepper remained unchanged at 160,000 VND / kg.

If in the previous years, this type of pepper was difficult to sell, this year it was also asked by traders and dealers to take care of the garden at a high price.

Meanwhile, the focus of pepper in the Central Highlands has not been able to speed up harvesting yet because it is still lack of sunlight but the price of pepper has been high at the beginning of the season. The price of black pepper has been collected by agricultural product agents in Dak Lak today at the right price of VND 100,000 / kg.

Especially in the key pepper region, which has the famous Chu Se pepper brand, accounting for about 17% of Vietnam's export pepper, this year it is expected to harvest only about 8,000 tons of pepper.

Chu Se Pepper Association said that due to climate change, unfavorable weather like every year, the 2010/2011 crop could produce a yield of nearly 30%. Currently, traders have given people to take to the field a price of 100,000 VND / kg of black pepper.

What makes the gardeners worried, contrary to many years, now the Central Highlands is sunny, drought to change seasons, the Central Highlands is still dark, cold for a long time, not yet sunny, affecting the quality of autumn pepper. and slow to market.

The world lacks pepper

It is expected that this year, the world demand for pepper will increase by 5% on average and the output in pepper growing countries will have many different forecasts about the data, but still the same at the basic point is that it is expected. The world will lack about 35,000-40,000 tons.

Share of world pepper exports in 2010.

The analysis will show that the production of pepper in China, Indonesia, Brazil decreased due to crop failure, just enough for increasing domestic consumption. The rest to join the export market is negligible so the world already lacks more. The supply currently depends on Indian and Vietnamese pepper, as Indonesia and Brazil only have to harvest at the end of July.

According to the Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA), the domestic price of black pepper is likely to increase to 110,000 – 120,000 VND / kg, the export price will also increase to more than US $ 6,000 / ton black pepper and US $ 8,000 / ton white pepper.

Can see that expected price is about to become a reality. And our country's pepper growers will have another successful crop in the context of increasing world agricultural prices.
