As for agents collecting pepper from people, it is very difficult because farmers are still waiting for prices to rise.

VPA has warned its member businesses to be wary of signing long-distance contracts when the stock in the warehouse is not available. At present, some businesses have signed contracts before the time of Tet and delivered in March and April. pepper prices domestic current is too high.

According to VPA's report, through the survey of key growing provinces shows that the situation of pests and diseases in pepper gardens is also complicated. Many pepper gardens became ill quickly and slowly, causing many farmers to suffer in Binh Phuoc, Quang Tri. However, a large area of ​​pepper was planted in 2007 (when the price of pepper increased by over VND 70,000 / kg), starting to harvest the first crop, so Vietnam's pepper output in 2011 remained firm and equal to with last year, reaching 110,000 tons.

Meanwhile, according to forecasts of the International Pepper Association, the pepper output of all countries in the world has decreased. In particular, the sharpest decline in Brazil and Indonesia due to pest infestation and the impact of weather.

In the first quarter of this year, Vietnam has exported 25,128 tons of pepper, with a turnover of 123 million dollars. Compared to the same period in 2010, the export volume decreased 3,097 tons, equivalent to 11%. However, exports increased by 44% or 37.6 million dollars.

Especially in March 2011 alone, pepper exports reached 15,639 tons, accounting for 3/5 of the whole quarter's export. The average export price of black and white pepper also increased sharply compared to last year. The average price of black pepper in the first quarter was US $ 4,460 / ton, up 159%, the export price of white pepper even increased, reaching US $ 6,964 / ton with a record price increase of 176% over the same period last year. before.

At present, the local price at many places is over 100,000 VND / kg, especially in some places the price has increased to 106,000 VND / kg for black pepper and 160,000 – 170,000 VND / kg for white pepper.
