The survey team summarizes a number of main situations
– The majority of pepper gardens in Tan Phu and Xuan Loc districts, Dong Nai province in 2012 yield decreased 30-40% compared to 2011. The cause of decrease (1) due to early rain and prolonged right in the period of flower differentiation of pepper, so the trees disperse, leaves much, flowers, few fruits. (2) due to the care factor after harvesting in 2011, pepper plants lost strength, some households did not make timely investment, not enough, so when they entered the new crop, the tree lacked power when flowering.
– In Chau Duc district, due to the advantages of natural conditions and farming experience, most pepper gardens still maintain the productivity and output as in 2011.
– It is still early to make a general assessment of the output of 2012 crop output of Dong Nai and Ba Ria Vung Tau provinces. However, through the places visited, the survey showed that a lot of pepper gardens in Tan Phu and Xuan Loc have reduced productivity, households said that they had reduced 30-40% compared to 2011.
– Pepper gardens of the two provinces, especially in Ba Ria Vung Tau, rarely die. Survey pepper gardens all use pepper posts as vegetative plants (with pillars above 10 m high, collecting 20 kg of dried pepper / posts). Pepper gardens are cultivated towards organic, ecological, luxuriant, green, sustainable canopy.
Implementing the work program of Vietnam Pepper Association, after the Lunar New Year, VPA continues to organize a survey team for key pepper provinces in Binh Phuoc, Dak Nong, Dak Lak and Gia Lai.
