Export volume is estimated at 25 thousand tons, down 7.3%, according to the latest report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
According to Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, pepper export in February 2013 was estimated at 13 thousand tons, worth 90 million USD. Generally, in two months, the export volume was estimated at 25 thousand tons, the turnover was estimated at US $ 169 million, down 7.3% in volume but up 105.7% in value.
The largest pepper import markets of Vietnam are still the US (accounting for 19.5% market share), Germany (10.28%), Singapore (8.5%) and the United Arab Emirates (7 ,2%).
According to the Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA), the price of pepper currently reaches 124,000 VND / kg, nearly 10,000 VND higher than the previous year, so businesses boost exports.
According to VPA, the price of pepper increased due to unfavorable weather affecting pepper productivity in Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, making this year's pepper output fall by 20-25%. Vietnam is the largest pepper exporter in the world, so all fluctuations in domestic production have an impact on the global market.
VPA predicts that in the coming time, pepper prices in the world market may continue to rise. VPA recommends that enterprises should not sign long-term export contracts with large volumes at this time, only in the form of spot to avoid losses if the price increases in the coming weeks.
