(11/12) – Indian pepper prices hit a new high yesterday, Tuesday 10/12, on the supply remains tight.

Pepper prices increased to Rs 504 per kg, with some buyers picking up at Rs 515 a kg. High quality pepper was offered at Rs 520 a kg. About 20 tons of pepper were traded, market sources said Business Line know.

Pepper released from the warehouse after the clearance of the food safety agency was offered at Rs 540 / kg, but the buyer only paid Rs 530 / kg.

Domestic demand is still high but no goods are available. The spot market also didn't work because no stock was delivered.

On national and regional exchanges, there are still buyers at Rs 530 – 535 lakhs / kg but no sellers. The new pepper crop has not yet begun to appear.

On NMCE, the December contract reported no transactions, while the January and February contracts increased by Rs 440 and Rs 170, respectively, to Rs 53,170 and Rs 52,970 (USD 8,711 / tons and 8,669 USD / ton). (1 USD = 61,0354 Rupees)

Total revenue increased to 12 tons. Open interest unchanged at 14 tonnes.

On the IPSTA, December and January contracts increased by Rs 480 to close at Rs 53,480 and Rs 53,480 (equivalent to 8,762 USD / ton).

Spot prices increased on demand to Rs 400, to close at Rs 50,400 a quintal (US $ 8,258 / ton) for the pint and 52,400 Rs / quintal (US $ 8,585 / ton) for the selected type.

Export prices of Indian pepper increased further at 9,150 – 9,200 USD / ton (c & f) for Europe and 9,400 – 9,450 USD / ton (c & f) for the US.

Brazil Asta pepper is supplied at 8,100 USD / tonne (fob), Belem and B1 – 560 Gr / l at 7,950 USD / tonne (fob), Belem.

Pepper prices in Vietnam have increased by 4%, but trading is limited in view of very limited supplies.

In Sarawak, local prices of black pepper increased by 2% and 1% for white pepper. In Lampung and Sri Lanka, black pepper prices were reported stable. In Bangka, Muntok white pepper prices increased significantly with 5% to IDR 115,000 from IDR 109,000 last week.
