Spot prices are now bought directly by traders from Rs 500 – 505 / kg on a cash basis and shipped by themselves.
On the international market, pepper prices of all origins are reported more firmly.
At the same time, there were reports from Pathanamthitta, Kollam and Kottayam districts of Kerala state and parts of Karnataka state that the demand for green and young pepper is currently very high.
On NMCE last week, January and February contracts fell by 579 lakhs and 614 lakhs respectively Rs 53,001 and Rs 53,111 (equivalent to US $ 8,553 per ton and US $ 8,571), on Saturday. In Vietnam, black pepper prices eased slightly, although the average price was still 1% higher than the previous week.
In the case of Vietnamese white pepper, the price has increased by 3%. In Sri Lanka, prices also increased by 3%.
This year, total US imports are currently at 59,592 tons, including 42,584 tons of black pepper, 5,015 tons of white pepper and 11,993 tons of ground pepper. Regarding white pepper, from Indonesia and Vietnam dominate with about 93%.
US imports this year may exceed 70,000 tons, the report added.
