The main markets of Vietnam pepper in the first 5 months of the year include the United States (accounting for 18.7%), India (accounting for 9.6%), Pakistan (accounting for 5.4%). ), Germany (4.3%), and United Arab Emirates (4.1%).
Notably, the average export price to all markets fell sharply. Specifically, the average export price of pepper in the first 6 months was estimated at 3,438 USD / ton, down to 61% over the same period last year.
In the domestic market, the price of pepper also decreased in the same direction as the export price trend. As of June 23, the price of pepper traded at 53,000-56,000 VND / kg, down about 3,000 VND / kg compared to the same. the previous month and reduce 2,000 VND / kg compared to the beginning of the month.
The Department of Processing and Agricultural Market Development forecasts: Pepper prices will be hard to recover in July and the end of the year. Many pepper-growing households have reduced their acreage and switched to other crops due to the continuous falling prices and many areas of pepper disease.
According to the Department of Agro-product Processing and Market Development, in this situation, it is necessary to propagate and mobilize farmer households and pepper growing units to organize the production of pepper according to groups, groups, cooperatives and have links with businesses to be supported with training on pepper cultivation techniques in the right manner, and to ensure consumption of outputs.
In particular, it is necessary to strictly manage the planning and take measures to prevent farmers from growing spontaneously and massively as in the past years. In addition, localities also need to promote advertising and branding of pepper for each region and each locality in order to contribute to the sustainable development of pepper.
