A foreign-invested Exporter (FDI) said that because it was very difficult to buy goods from Vietnamese farmers to deliver under contracts with traditional customers, last year they had to import pepper from Indonesia and Brazil to have it. goods for delivery. While a significant percentage of pepper substandard quality in the EU is forced to reduce prices for customers if they do not want to receive goods back. Therefore, according to them, Vietnam's export business of pepper at this time is to take into account the risk factors more than before.
When asked why it is difficult to buy products from farmers, many market observers shared the same thought that it is possible that the psychology of high prices in recent years (when the price reached a peak nearly 4 times higher than the current price) making farmers hesitant and hesitant to sell when they sell at too low prices. They want to wait a bit longer for prices to rise again, but for export traders it is not possible.
According to last week's market report of the International Pepper Association (IPC), exporters in Vietnam have offered black pepper grade 570 Gr-Asta at $ 3,015 / ton and black pepper grade 550 Gr- FAQ at USD 2,955 / ton (FOB-HCM).
Trade sources in Dubai also said that Brazilian black pepper was offered in B-Asta for $ 3,100, for B1 for 3,000 USD and B2 for 2,900 USD / ton.
Meanwhile, Lampung black pepper price (Indonesia) also offered fluctuated around USD 2,900 / ton (FOB).
