On February 21, in Ho Chi Minh City, the People’s Committee of Dak Lak province held a press conference to announce the activities of the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2025. World coffee ”will take place from 9-13 March in Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak Province.

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Ha – Permanent Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People’s Committee, Head of Organizing Committee – said that this is a national festival, held every 2 years.
According to Mr. Ha, coffee is a very important role in socio -economic life, bringing livelihoods to people, especially people in the Central Highlands in general, Dak Lak province in particular.
Buon Ma Thuot City is known as “Vietnam’s coffee capital”, with the largest coffee area and output in the country, with an area of about 210,000 ha, annual harvested output reaches more than 520,000 tons, accounting for more than 30% of the national output. Coffee of Dak Lak province has exported to hundreds of countries and territories around the world, playing an important role in local socio -economic development.

In 2024, the province’s agricultural export value reached US $ 1.7 billion, of which coffee products reached more than 1.2 billion USD. This is a national festival, held every 2 years.
“Therefore, the People’s Committee of Dak Lak province cooperates with ministries, central branches and the Central Highlands provinces to organize the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival as a trade promotion activity of important significance, to help domestic and foreign enterprises promote products, linking the development between production and export, expanding the market ” – Mr. Ha said.
Talking more about the potential of coffee trees, the representative of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Lak province said that coffee prices from last year to the present are very positive. From the price of 40,000 – 45,000 VND/kg, now leap to 125,000 – 130,000 VND/kg (3 times an increase). As a result, farmers are very excited when the average income is from 200-300 million VND/ha after deducting expenses.

Enterprises in Dak Lak province introduce many deep processed products from coffee.
“In the coming time, Dak Lak province advocates not to expand the area of coffee growing but focusing on improving product quality, meeting the standards of import markets; At the same time, increasing deep processing because the current products are still mainly exported, deep processing in the province is only about 10%” – a representative of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Lak province said.
