Rising “crazy”, breaking all historical peaks

In the early morning of November 28, Vietnam time, at the end of the trading session on the London – UK floor, Robusta coffee prices officially set a new peak at 5,533 USD/ton, for delivery in January 2025 – higher than the old peak set. at the end of September with 5,527 USD.

Thus, in just one trading session, the price of Robusta coffee futures increased to 358 USD/ton, but this was the lowest increase among new futures, equivalent to 6.92%.

In long-distance coffee terms, the increase is even more “crazy”. This shows that world coffee investors are predicting a future scarcity of the beans that create this daily drink.

Specifically, for delivery in July 2025, Robusta coffee price increased by 390 USD/ton, to 5,360 USD/ton, an increase of 7.85%; May 2025 delivery term increased by 383 USD/ton, to 5,434 USD/ton; March 2025 delivery term increased by 382 USD/ton, to 5,496 USD/ton.

Coffee prices have just set a historic peak

Arabica coffee prices on the New York – US exchange also had a strong increase in price, with a range of 4.6% – 4.89% depending on the term, in which long-distance futures increased more strongly. In the earliest delivery period, March 2025, Arabica coffee prices increased to 7,120 USD/ton, an increase of 310 USD/ton.

The price of Brazilian Arabica coffee is even higher, at 8,900 USD/ton, an increase of 290 USD/ton in the latest delivery term of December 2024.

Coffee prices in the world skyrocketed when the crops in Vietnam and Brazil were not good. In Vietnam, there are crop failures and slow harvests due to weather; In Brazil, the heat is prolonged, causing difficulties for production and forecasting crop failure in the next crop.

Coffee prices in the domestic market are forecast to continue to increase sharply and may return to the historic peak at the end of April, or more than 134,000 VND/kg.

Because, on November 27, coffee prices increased to 124,000 VND/kg while world prices increased equivalent to 9,000 – 9,800 VND/kg in last night’s trading session.
