According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, export coffee prices continue to increase. In September, the average price reached 5,469 USD per ton, the highest level ever.
In the total of 9 months, each ton of coffee exported on average reached 3,897 USD per ton, up 56% over the same period last year. Coffee has become the agricultural product with the sharpest price increase among Vietnam’s main export products.
Thanks to that, Vietnam earned nearly 4.4 billion USD from this type of agricultural product in 9 months, an increase of 40% over the same period in 2023. This level exceeds the turnover of last year.
According to the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association, forecast for the 2024-2025 crop year, Vietnam faces many challenges due to unfavorable weather conditions, especially the El Nino phenomenon causing drought and depression. sick. Coffee output is expected to decrease by 5-15% compared to the previous crop year, causing total output to continue to decline.
However, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is still optimistic. The Ministry forecasts that the export turnover of this agricultural product this year will exceed 5 billion USD, even reaching 6 billion USD thanks to high prices.
