At other suppliers, pepper prices did not record new fluctuations. In particular, Brazilian pepper ASTA 570 is priced at 6,300 USD/ton, Kuching black pepper is priced at 8,500 USD/ton.

Price of black pepper 500 g/l and 550 g/l export Vietnam’s is also stable in the range of 6,500 – 6,800 USD/ton.

Update pepper information

According to preliminary statistics of the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in October, Vietnam had import 4,818 tons of pepper of all kinds, of which black pepper reached 4,566 tons, white pepper reached 252 tons, total import turnover reached 29.3 million USD, compared to last month, import volume increased by 98.3%.

Of which, Indonesia continued to be the main supplier to Vietnam pepper in the month reaching 3,970 tons, accounting for 82.4%; followed by Brazil: 501 tons, accounting for 10.4%.

The main import enterprises include: Olam: 1,012 tons, Harris Spices: 863 tons, Phuc Sinh: 650 tons, Phuc Thinh: 630 tons and Pearl: 611 tons.

Progressively from January 1 to October 31, 2024, Vietnam imported 28,596 tons of pepper of all kinds, of which black pepper reached 25,456 tons, white pepper reached 3,140 tons, total import turnover reached 131.3 million USD Compared to the same period last year, imports increased by 27.1% and turnover increased by 78.5%.

Leading importers include: Olam Vietnam: 9,510 tons, Tran Chau: 3,685 tons, Phuc Sinh: 1,942 tons, KSS Vietnam: 1,497 tons and Phuc Thinh: 1,396 tons.

Notably, in terms of import market, Indonesia surpassed Brazil to become the largest pepper supplier to Vietnam in the first 10 months of the year, accounting for 36% of the volume with 10,287 tons, an increase of 257.2% compared to the previous year. same period.

Next is Brazil reaching 9,013 tons, accounting for 31.5%, down 35.5% and Cambodia accounting for 23.4% reaching 6,695 tons, up 96.7%.

It can be seen that pepper from Indonesia and Cambodia is being favored and imported more by businesses. The reason may be due to its close geographical location and low transportation costs. In addition, Indonesia’s pepper output this year is higher than last year and transaction prices are less volatile than other sources of supply.

Meanwhile, Brazil’s pepper output this year recorded a sharp decrease due to drought and fluctuating prices.
