Update domestic pepper prices
Pepper prices this week adjusted in opposite directions in the key provinces surveyed compared to the beginning of the week.
In detail, after increasing 500 VND/kg, Gia Lai and Dong Nai provinces both raised the purchasing price to 93,500 VND/kg – the current lowest.
Meanwhile, Dak Lak and Dak Nong are anchored at the highest threshold of 95,000 VND/kg, after a decrease of 1,000 VND/kg.
Traders in Binh Phuoc and Ba Ria – Vung Tau are buying pepper at a general price of 94,000 VND/kg, down 1,000 VND/kg and 1,500 VND/kg respectively.

Preliminary statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association show that in March 2024, Vietnam exported 25,579 tons of pepper of all kinds, of which black pepper reached 22,282 tons, white pepper reached 3,297 tons. ton, Ministry of Industry and Commerce Vietnam reported.
Pepper export turnover reached 110.7 million USD, of which black pepper reached 92.0 million USD, white pepper reached 18.7 million USD, compared to February, export volume increased by 88.1%, turnover increased 102.2%.
The average export price of black pepper in March reached 4,136 USD/ton, white pepper reached 5,710 USD/ton, an increase of 310 USD for black pepper and 55 USD for white pepper.
Accumulated by the end of the first quarter of 2024, Vietnam has exported 56,712 tons of pepper of all kinds, of which black pepper reached 49,743 tons, white pepper reached 6,969 tons. Total export turnover reached 235.6 million USD, of which black pepper reached 196.9 million USD, white pepper reached 38.7 million USD. Compared to the same period in 2023, export volume will decrease by 26.1% and turnover will decrease by 0.1%.
The average export price of black pepper reached 3,966 USD/ton, white pepper reached 5,552 USD/ton, an increase of 562 USD for black pepper and 593 USD for white pepper respectively compared to the same period in 2023.
Asia is the largest export region, accounting for 37.7% reaching 21,365 tons, however compared to the same period, it decreased by 54.3%. India is the largest export market in Asia reaching 3,793 tons, an increase of 19.6% and accounting for 6.7%.
Exports to China decreased the most by 95.8%, reaching only 1,083 tons compared to 25,919 tons in the same period, the UAE also decreased by 38.6%; Iran decreased by 29.3%, while exports to Korea increased sharply by 179.9% to 2,164 tons.
The Americas region ranked second, accounting for 29.7%, of which the US is the largest export market of Vietnamese pepper, accounting for 26.8%, reaching 15,185 tons, an increase of 27.9% over the same period.
Exports to Europe accounted for 26.3%, an increase of 24.7% over the same period in 2023, of which the largest export to Germany increased by 113.8% to 3,701 tons; The Netherlands increased by 76.9% to 2,598 tons; exports also increased in Russia (25.1%); France (8%); Spain (32.3%), Italy (203.6%)… but decreased in the UK (-5.6%); Poland (-21.1%);, Ireland (-75.4%)…
Exports to Africa decreased by 23.1%, of which Egypt decreased by 9.7% to 1,389 tons and Senegal decreased by 38.0% to 588 tons.
