Agricultural exports have regained high growth momentum.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that agricultural, forestry and fishery exports in November 2023 are estimated to bring in 4.79 billion USD, up 0.3% compared to October 2023 and up 13% compared to November 2022. .
In particular, all product groups increased compared to November 2022. Specifically, agricultural products reached 2.49 billion USD, an increase of 24.7%; livestock 41 million USD, up 9.7%; forest products 1.29 billion USD, up 2.8%; seafood 800 million USD, up 1.4%; production input 168 million USD, up 4.9%.
EXPORT GROUP OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS INCREASED “IMPRESSIVELY”
However, because the export value of some main products decreased sharply in the first half of the year, for the first 11 months of 2023, the total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products is estimated at 47.84 billion USD, a decrease of 2.5 billion USD. 7% over the same period last year. Of which, the seafood group reached 8.24 billion USD, down 18.9%; forest products 13.02 reached billion USD, down 17%; Production inputs reached 1.82 billion USD, down 17.8%.
Particularly, the group of agricultural products and livestock has a high export value. Specifically: export turnover of agricultural products is estimated at 24.3 billion USD, up 17.1% over the same period last year. Of which, the export value of the fruit and vegetable industry was contributed by 5.32 billion USD, an increase of 74.5%; Rice export turnover was 4.41 billion USD, an increase of 36.3%; cashew nuts 3.31 billion USD, up 17.4%, cereal products 1.08 billion USD, up 5.4%. Export turnover of livestock products reached 453 million USD, an increase of 23.5%.
“By the end of November, there were 6 agricultural product industries with an export turnover of over 3 billion USD: Coffee 3.54 billion USD, rice 4.41 billion USD, vegetables and fruits 5.32 billion USD, seeds Cashew 3.31 billion USD, shrimp 3.38 billion USD, wood and wood products 12.11 billion USD”.

The average export price of some main agricultural products increased: Rice 568 USD/ton, up 17.3% (price increased continuously, of which October reached 640 USD/ton, November reached 659 USD/ton); tea 1,750 USD/ton, up 8.7%; coffee 2,570 USD/ton, up 11.9%.
On the contrary, export prices of some products decreased: Rubber 1,343 USD/ton, down 14.7%; Pepper 3,391 USD/ton, down 21.3%; Cashew nuts 5,682 USD/ton, down 4.7%; cassava and cassava products 437 USD/ton, down 0.3%.
Regarding export markets in the first 11 months of 2023, the export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products to markets in the Asian region reached 23.61 billion USD, an increase of 6.8%; Americas 10.85 billion USD, down 17.7%; Europe 4.85 billion USD, down 12.5%; Africa 999 million USD, up 21.7%; Oceania 722 million USD, down 13.5%. China, the United States and Japan continue to remain the three largest export markets; Export value to China accounted for 23.2%, an increase of 18%; The United States accounted for 20.6%, down 17.9% and Japan accounted for 7.4%, down 9.1% over the same period last year.
EFFORT TO HANDLE TECHNICAL BARRIERS IN MAJOR IMPORT MARKETS
Regarding import of agricultural, forestry and fishery products, the turnover in 11 months reached 37.29 billion USD, down 9.7% over the same period last year. Of which, agricultural products group reached 22.72 billion USD, down 9.4%; livestock products 3.23 billion USD, down 4.8%; seafood 2.41 billion USD, down 3.4%; forest products 2.09 billion USD, down 27.5%; production input 6.79 billion USD, down 8.1%; salt 41.1 million USD, down 2.5% over the same period last year.
Thus, by the end of November 2023, the entire agriculture, forestry and fishery industry had a trade surplus of 10.55 billion USD, an increase of 33.7% over the same period last year.
Agricultural, forestry and fishery import market in 11 months: Asia accounts for 28.1% of Vietnam’s import market share, America accounts for 23.5%, Oceania accounts for 7%, Africa accounts for 4.7% and Europe accounts for 4%. China, Brazil and the United States are the three largest markets providing agricultural, forestry and fishery products to Vietnam in the past 11 months, with market shares in total import value respectively: 8.1%, 8. .1% and 7.9%.
Referring to the management of consumption and export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products, Mr. Phung Duc Tien – Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that in November 2023, the Ministry will continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Closely monitor and promptly report to the Price Management Steering Committee and the Domestic Market Management Team on the production situation, the supply of agricultural products entering the harvest season, and price fluctuations, especially the Products that are being greatly affected by the world market such as rice.
Along with that, guide localities to regulate production plans and promote exports. The Ministry has also proactively handled food safety incidents, cases of shipments being warned in import markets and negotiated to handle technical barriers, expanding agricultural, forestry and fishery export markets.
“For the EU market: The Ministry is directing to overcome the recommendations of the EU Inspection Team on combating IUU exploitation; urging organizational units to carry out additional testing of criteria in the Residue Monitoring Program according to Recommendations to the EU, proposing to delay the organization of the EU Residue Program Evaluation Team from January 2024 to September 2024”.

Regarding the issue of handling technical barriers in the Chinese market, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has commented on the draft Protocol on controlling Vietnamese exploited seafood exported to China; continue to handle problems with exporting live lobster; Register export businesses on the CIFER System; Recommend adding new species and products to the list of permitted exports.

Regarding e-commerce development, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has organized training on knowledge and skills to synthesize, analyze, evaluate market information, and apply digital technology platforms in e-commerce. , selling agricultural products on online channels to Cooperatives, Cooperative Groups, and farmer households in 03 regions (Tuyen Quang, Nha Trang, Ca Mau) in November and December 2023.
Some localities actively and proactively apply e-commerce in agricultural product consumption. Son La: in 2023, more than 500 tons of fruit will be consumed via e-commerce platforms. Yen Bai: has created over 30,000 buying and selling accounts for farmer households on the Postmart.vn e-commerce platform, introduced 3,550 products (of which 108 OCOP products). Thanh Hoa: over 10,000 production and business households trained in digital skills and skills to operate in cyberspace; Nearly 500 agricultural products have been posted on the e-commerce platform.
With only December left until the end of 2023, the entire agriculture, forestry and fishery industry is accelerating to reach the finish line. Accordingly, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has proposed a number of key tasks to promote the development of domestic consumption and export markets.

Coordinate support for trademark and geographical indication protection for Vietnam’s potential export products abroad.
