According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the export value of vegetables and fruits in May is estimated at 600 million USD, bringing the total export value of fruits and vegetables in the first 5 months of 2023 to 1.97 billion USD, up 39% over the same period last year. year 2022.
In the first four months of 2023, China ranked first in Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable consumption with 58.7% market share, valued at US$804.6 million, up 30% over the same period in 2022. The market with the strongest increase in fruit and vegetable export value was the Netherlands (up 72.3%).
Dang Phuc Nguyen, General Secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, assessed that the reason for the strong growth of vegetables and fruits was thanks to China’s increased purchase after the Zero-COVID policy was implemented. This is the first year after 3 years of the pandemic that products such as dragon fruit, durian, mango and jackfruit have been purchased by China.

While exports to the US and Canada markets declined, China was the market that helped this enterprise’s fruit export activities grow well in the first months of the year.
