Speaking at the opening ceremony of the fair on May 3, Italy’s Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida stressed that the country “needs and can play a central role in the sector.” international agri-food and in the field of international agri-food”. Fruits and vegetables represent one of the main areas of Made in Italy, of the culinary traditions of the regions and of the world-recognized culinary culture. And the government’s nomination of Italian cuisine as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2023 is an affirmation, on an international level, of the quality, deliciousness and taste of Italian products.

With a focus on smart agriculture, Macfrut 2023 has attracted the attention and participation of many international partners, with the number of international businesses participating in the fair increasing by 50% compared to 2022, from the Middle East, Europe (the Balkans and Northern Europe), Latin America, Africa and Asia.

This year, the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy participated in the fair with a booth to introduce famous Vietnamese agricultural products and spices such as dragon fruit, green grapefruit, mangosteen, mango, pineapple, and teas, coffees, dried fruits, processed, spices, as well as opportunities for cooperation between Vietnam and Italy with the theme “Vietnamese fruit garden: Typical spices”.

Talking to the VNA reporter after cutting the ribbon to open the Vietnam booth at the Fair, Mayor of Rimini, Mr. Jamil Sadegholvaad, expressed his pleasure about Vietnam’s participation at the Macfruit Fair. He emphasized: “I believe that at this very important event at the European level, the presence of Vietnam is fundamental. The two countries have experienced 50 years of diplomatic relations with strong trade exchanges. I believe this is an opportunity for the further development of the fruit sector as well as the commercial relationship between Italy and Vietnam. The long-standing friendly relationship between the two countries can continue to develop in all areas of trade, tourism, processing, etc. in the increasingly strong connection.”

Speaking at the opening of the introduction of Vietnamese agricultural products and spices at the Macfrut Fair, Ambassador Duong Hai Hung emphasized that Vietnam is the 8th largest fruit exporter in the world, accounting for 3.8% of total fruit exports. . The agricultural sector in general and Vietnam’s vegetables and fruits and spices in particular are in an impressive transformation period with many innovations and modernization, making Vietnam an important source of spices in the world market. Compared to all other countries in Asia with the same strength in agriculture, only Vietnam has an FTA with the European Union (EU), which brings great advantages if Vietnam and Italy cooperate, combining the strengths of the two countries. own in buying, selling, trading, investing, producing and trading agricultural products not only in Italy but also can supply to regional and world markets.
