Pepper exports to the US – Vietnam’s largest market after a decline of over 13% in July, in August increased slightly by 0.66% in turnover, reaching $ 19.91 million; bringing the turnover of the whole 8 months to the top with 107.98 million USD, accounting for 19.27% of the total turnover, up 152.69% over the same period last year.
In the first eight months of 2011, the whole country exported 99,787 tons of pepper, earning $560.25 million, an increase of 8.6% in volume and an increase of 83.71% in turnover over the same period last year, reaching 71.3%. plan set out in 2011.
Of which, August alone exported 16,988 tons, worth $106.25 million, up 29% in volume and 35.41% in turnover compared to July.
At present, pepper price has surpassed the threshold of 100 million VND/ton, nearly doubled compared to the beginning of 2011 and tripled compared to the beginning of 2010. The price of pepper in Vietnam also increased according to the price on the world market and reached a 15-year high, surpassing even business expectations.
If Vietnam continues to keep at this price, it is expected that Vietnam will earn $800 million from pepper exports this year, an increase of $380 million compared to last year.
In August, pepper exports to the UAE market grew strongly by 214% in turnover compared to July, reaching 17.86 million USD; bringing the turnover of the whole 8 months to second place with 51.84 million USD, accounting for 9.25% of the total turnover, up 89.64% over the same period.
The German market ranked third in terms of turnover in the first eight months of the year with $50.46 million, accounting for 9% of the total turnover, up 25.68% over the same period.
Following are some major markets of Vietnam’s pepper exports in 8 months such as the Netherlands 36.28 million, India 32.26 million, Egypt 26.43 million, Pakistan 25.7 million, Spain $20.43 million dollars.
In the first 8 months of 2011, only 2 markets saw a decrease in turnover compared to the same period last year, namely Malaysia (-33.9%) and Poland (-1.7%), the rest of all other markets. both increased in turnover compared to the same period last year.
