From the second half of October, world pepper prices plunged due to the lack of trading power in the Kochi-India market. Partly because India has many festivals in the season, partly because the market is under pressure from Europe’s public debt crisis and decline, and the world economic inflation is widespread, so many investors withdraw their capital from the commodity market. commodities, especially agricultural products.
However, the world is short of pepper and demand for real goods is undeniable, so the decline is only temporary.
In the recent pepper session, the decline in price shows signs of stopping. The demand for pepper for the winter and the upcoming wedding and New Year season will certainly make the pepper market vibrant again. In addition to the forecasts of crop failure due to epidemics and natural disasters in the main producing countries, the market will heat up quickly.
The Vietnamese market also recorded a recent decline that made many speculators and pepper farmers worried, so a certain amount of goods was released. Most still expect prices in the last months of the year to increase again, although this is not easy.
Currently, the price of Vietnamese pepper is offered at 500 Gr/l-FAQ at $6,700-6,800/ton and 550 Gr/l-FAQ at $7,000-7,100/ton, while Indian pepper special grade MG1 is priced at 7,100- 7,200 USD/ton for the EU market and 300 USD/ton higher for the US market, a slight increase of 50-100 USD/ton.
