1. About production:
The pepper gardens have gone through the business cycle of exploitation for more than 10 years (estimated 30-40% of the total area), so far have deteriorated, productivity is reduced, susceptible to disease, some are old and dying. The replanting of pepper on this land must be after several years of rotation.
Combined with the survey of the Eastern provinces: General overview of the production results of pepper crop in 2012 in the whole country in terms of output is estimated at 95,000 – 100,000 tons, down 10-15% compared to 2011. At the end of the harvest season, more accurate data will be reported to the provinces.
2. Circulation, market, prices:
– The 2012 pepper crop is being harvested, estimated at 15-20%, 10-15 days earlier than the 2011 crop. The weight of pepper in all localities is quite high from 500gr – 600 gr/liter.

Wealthy households only sell enough to cover production costs, especially buy more goods to store, wait for prices to rise (this amount is estimated at 50% of output) to consume in the last 6 months of the year.
– The price at the beginning of the crop was high, the first price of black pepper was 120,000 – 125,000 VND/kg, up 25 – 30% compared to the same period in 2011, creating a hoarding mentality to wait for the price like 2011.
