The survey team summarizes some key situations
– Most of the pepper gardens in Tan Phu and Xuan Loc districts, Dong Nai province in 2012 had a yield reduction of 30-40% compared to 2011. The reason for the decrease was (1) due to early and prolonged rain at the time of flower differentiation. of pepper plants, so the tree spreads, leaves are many, flowers and fruits are few. (2) Due to the care factor after harvesting the 2011 crop, pepper plants lost their strength, some households did not invest in time, not enough, so when entering the new crop, the trees lacked strength when flowering and bearing fruit.
– In Chau Duc district, due to the advantages of natural conditions and farming experience, most pepper gardens still maintain the same productivity and output as in 2011.
– It is still early to evaluate the results of pepper production in 2012 of Dong Nai and Ba Ria Vung Tau provinces. However, through the places visited, the survey showed that quite a lot of pepper gardens in Tan Phu and Xuan Loc decreased in productivity, the households reported a decrease of 30-40% compared to 2011.
– The pepper gardens of the two provinces, especially in Ba Ria Vung Tau, are less likely to die from disease. The surveyed pepper gardens used pepper posts which are real plants (with poles over 10 m high, collecting 20 kg of dried pepper/pillar). The pepper garden is cultivated in the direction of organic, ecological, luxuriant, green and sustainable canopy.
Implementing the work program of the Vietnam Pepper Association, after the Lunar New Year, VPA continued to organize a survey mission to the key pepper growing provinces in Binh Phuoc, Dak Nong, Dak Lak and Gia Lai. And at the end of the next survey, we will have more complete and accurate assessments, comments and forecasts about the 2012 pepper production nationwide.
