Currently, the domestic price of black pepper in the key pepper growing provinces in the Central Highlands and the Southeast fluctuates at 123,000 – 125,000 VND/kg, 18,000 – 20,000 VND/kg higher than the same period in 2011.
Farmers who still have pepper stock have not yet sold it, waiting for high prices (in 2011 pepper prices reached the highest level from mid-September to mid-October at 160,000 -165,000 VND/kg) and businesses buying Collected goods 3-4 months ago, now the price at the warehouse is quite high, if you sell the above price, you will suffer a loss.
The domestic pepper price market has struggled in recent times, and the trading progress is very quiet. Pepper exporters assessed that “domestic pepper prices are quite high and difficult to buy”, so there are a number of businesses that have to buy pepper from Indonesia for re-export.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the export volume of pepper in the first 7 months of this year was 80,000 tons, with a turnover of 546 million USD. The average export price of pepper in the first 6 months of the year reached $6,814/ton, up 26.4% over the same period last year.
