At the annual meeting summarizing the year 2012 and the direction of activities in 2013 (HCMC, April 18) of the Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA), Mr. Hoang Phuoc Binh, Standing Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh Association Chu Se (Gia Lai), issued an important warning.

Accordingly, the pepper that farmers harvested, dried, and screened was very clean, with a moisture content of 10%, better than the 12% VPA offered, and then sold. But sadly, traders are doing bad quality of pepper to make profit. After buying dried pepper from farmers, traders wet it with water, then mix it with dried powdered soil, the soil will absorb water and stick to the pepper. The soil surrounding the pepper has both increased in volume and passed the quality and moisture testing machine. The danger is that just letting the batch of pepper mix the soil until tomorrow, the humidity will increase and absorb more water vapor when the soil is dry and the pepper is moldy and damaged.

“As a result, exporters have to suffer losses after buying these goods from traders. If it is not detected in time and sold to the importer, the damage is even greater, the reputation is seriously affected leading to the loss of customers. Fortunately, up to now, there has been no shipment of dirty pepper that has “passed” the Customs to export “- Mr. Binh is concerned.

Too frustrated, Mr. Nguyen Ba Thinh, pepper farmer in Binh Phuoc province, suggested that the association and ministries and branches must stop and severely punish the worms that make this soup pot, otherwise the prestige and selling price will be lost. reduced, businesses and farmers will suffer the heaviest losses.

“With this situation, I see that the Chu Se Pepper Association has a good way to check the roots at the farmer households. If the standard meets the standards, they will contact businesses and farmers to sell them directly without going through traders or agents. At that time, farmers can sell at a high price, businesses will be able to consume clean, and export goods will be prestigious,” said Mr. Do Ha Nam, Chairman of VPA.
