The Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture has temporarily suspended the export of white pepper to Vietnam and instead shipped it to India and Europe to ensure a good price for farmers to improve their income and support their families.
“Vietnam has always been an export destination. This activity will have to stop, and exports should be redirected to India and Europe,” said Indonesian Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman at the release. pepper white pepper for export at the white pepper plantation of Air Seruk Belitung village on May 4.
Mr. Sulaiman said the decision to stop or reduce pepper exports to Vietnam was made after the Southeast Asian country reprocessed Indonesian pepper for re-export to other countries, including Europe and India. In the future, direct processing should take place in Indonesia.
“We have held talks with India. We are successfully entering the Indian market. Before that was the US, and then Japan and Europe. This is part of our efforts,” he said.
Therefore, Mr. Sulaiman directed the Indonesian Agricultural Quarantine Agency to support all Indonesian exports to enter the country directly or not to transit in other countries.
“That is our wish. We aim for high quality products with high productivity. We will then reduce production. We can add value everywhere, so we then export directly to the destination country,” he commented.
