Although the harvest has not yet been completed, many traders come to her house to ask for the price of 65-70 thousand VND/kg. Some people even give money in advance to farmers to keep the goods.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tien (in Krong Nang town, Krong Nang district) regrets that he can spend the price but the output is low. Previously, his house had 2,000 green pepper pillars, but then infected, more than half died; The price dropped again, so they were not interested in taking care of it. In this season, he plans to harvest about 5 tons of pepper. He plans to sell some, and keep the rest waiting for the price to increase.

Mr. Le Duc Huy, Deputy General Director of Simexco Dak Lak Company, said that pepper prices are increasing. From 55,000 VND/kg, in just 15 days, pepper increased by nearly 20,000 VND/kg (currently over 70 thousand VND/kg). However, the price of pepper has only increased sharply in the domestic market (production area), while the consumption market (overseas) does not fluctuate so quickly.
According to Mr. Huy, in fact, the supply is not too scarce because Vietnam has just entered the harvest season, the output will be very large, not to mention that all businesses have stock.
The data of the Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA) shows that in the first 2 months of 2021, Vietnam’s pepper export volume decreased sharply (25.3%) compared to the same period last year, while the volume of imported exports increased by more than 13%.
Farmers are happy when pepper prices increase
In the first two months of the year, Simexco Dak Lak has only exported 400 tons of pepper (about 40% over the same period last year) and has not yet planned to import goods before this price rush.
Facing this situation, Mr. Huy said that farmers can sell part of the harvested output at this price to cover, should not borrow from banks or other sources of loans to store goods, avoiding risks when prices drop.
Explaining the price increase of pepper, Mr. Hoang Phuoc Binh, Permanent Vice President and General Secretary of Chu Sue Pepper Association (Gia Lai) said that this year, pepper material regions across the country have suffered heavy crop failures. due to the influence of weather, people rarely invest because of low prices).
Farmers know that the output of pepper will decrease, the price will increase, so they do not sell it all, store it and wait for the price to increase. Many agents, businesses, even people with money also buy pepper for speculation.
Experts say that pepper production is not too scarce despite the crop failure
