Recently, at a meeting to connect dragon fruit consumption, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam said that there is currently no solution to clear agricultural products for export to China.
“The two provinces of Lang Son and Quang Ninh have announced that China has stopped importing agricultural products. The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development have contacted China to remove difficulties but have not yet received a reply. The Chinese side also informed that it would stop. Tet is 14 days. It is considered to be the end of the road. We have tried our best, there is no solution anymore, “said Mr. Nam.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development said that only through the Lunar New Year, the situation of border gate congestion will gradually be resolved.
The immediate solution is to invite retail and deep-processing businesses in the country to connect with the consumption of agricultural products, especially dragon fruit. At the same time, diversify export markets.
Mr. Phan Van Tan, Deputy Director of Binh Thuan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that the first three months of the year are always the time when the province focuses on human resources and resources to produce, consume, transport and process dragon fruits. It is expected that in the first quarter of 2022, the province has more than 100,000 tons of dragon fruit to consume.
In the province, traders are buying slowly, even some places stop buying dragon fruit. After the customs clearance at the northern border gates was delayed, the price of dragon fruit dropped quite deeply, in some places to 2,000-4,000. VND/kg.
Mr. Tan proposed the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and relevant ministries, departments and branches to have policies to support the consumption and transportation of dragon fruits for Binh Thuan. In the immediate future, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will direct businesses to export to India, promoting deep processing and frozen preservation.
“We determined to strengthen the connection with the units, within the province is the Department of Industry and Trade. In addition, the neighboring provinces”, Mr. Tan shared.
According to Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam, since 2022, China has tightened a series of quarantine and import regulations. At the same time, this will be a demanding market, high-end and high safety standards.
“Enterprises need to change their thinking about the Chinese market. This is no longer an easy market like before,” said Mr. Nam.
